Well 2012 is here, weather was practically perfect for Airsoft overal excellent sportsmanship from all on the day and with 116 players on site was a real pleasure to marshal, of course the odd little niggle but let us know what you thought!

Personally I really really enjoyed playing as part of the UN peacekeeping force. It certainly added a different slant to the usual gameplay. Even if no shots were fired at us, it was still a bit unsettling knowing that we could be ambushed by either side at any given moment, especially when everyone is slyly gripping their weapons as we stroll passed trying to win over their hearts and minds.

I think if it were fleshed out a bit more, that could really work. The way we were playing it (trying to get the teams to help us out with our arrests, making deals and double crossing etc) was probably causing a bit of confusion. Perhaps that isn't a bad thing? Keeps people guessing I suppose, but on the other hand some players mentioned that they were just going to shoot on sight, which while allowed, to me isn't really sporting or playing along with the scenario with the guys at F&O had obviously put time and effort into. There wasn't anything to stop a team from team killing the target we were after from them not trusting us. This even caused one of our targets to be friendly knife killed a few times, simply so that he couldn't "come and help us set up an ambush" *wink* / be arrested. In the end we had to shoot the guys who kept doing it and asking questions and try and make our escape, at which point the knife guy raised the alarm and got us wiped out in a field. It caused us a problem as we couldn't very well go into his spawn and wait for him, and his group of mates who he was squadding around with were going to shoot on sight. Sportsmanship points to the player though, who actually turned himself in! The same goes for the slippery Billy AKA "Muctash" and the Mohawk guy. Well played to you both.

It certainly did mix up the usual mass battle action, and I think I speak for SZS when I say it was thoroughly enjoyable. I'd certainly be up for it again. I'd be interested to hear what the non UN players thought. Some seemed to enjoy the opportunity to try their hand at bad eastern european accents!

For me though, the afternoon was a bit of a disappointment after what was a brilliant morning. Mostly because I was on crap backup guns, but I heard quite a few grumblings about hit taking and sportsmanship, especially in the Cedars defense. With those sorts of numbers though, perhaps splitting three ways may be an option, if numbers/groups/scenario permitted?

Overall a very good day as usual, just a shame about the few personal little niggles.

Hey
I have to say morning game was awesome! One small niggle was us none stripes did not hear start until a few minutes after everybody else so ended up pinned by our spawn for abit, we managed to break it eventually but a few people around me felt a bit "cheated" other than that I liked it!

I would like to politely disagree with this comment. I was said person who did the knifing/ team killing and believe I was playing with the scenario and what I did was no unsportsmanly (If that's a word?) Yes you had come into our area and tried to persuade us you would help us, I saw through your lie and combatted that in the only way I could which was eliminating the high value target. If you don't want your comerade to squeal when they get captured the simple solution is take him out yourself!

Personally I think a rule being put in to eliminate the chance of these actions would take a very large element out the scenario

Not sure what the scenario was or what the mission goals were but surely knifing the high value target that you're guarding defeats the purpose of you guarding him?

Yes that would seem true, end of the day if you don't need him anymore why have you kept him alive anyway, he's just a high risk intel leakage acting to happen

They weren't necessarily guarded anyone as only the UN knew the targets and re team killing there were Serbs and Croats so pretty much anything goes!

He was a high value Target for the UN to capture, I saw through the lie but ky friend who was the Target was stubborn and wanted to I quote "go see why they want me" effectively could have been a spy or equivalent, so effectively became a prisoner trying to escape. so actions were taken to keep him quiet. It made a good element to the game! sadly our plan didn't work and he escaped!

Another great day out for the Lads from Bristol, had lots of fun and laugh's.Bit hectic at time's with such a lot of player's.Thought the day went well, especially with so many player's, plenty of marshalls made it a pretty snag free day. Thanks to all the f&o staff for a great day.

I realize I have posted quite a lot in this thread but oh well!
Idk how this will be looked upon but what about a rethink of the capture rule.
Instead of the normal shoot then the chance to capture specific targets. Although works for when the target knows who they are but in a game like this one targets could be very unaware and make things a little more difficult!

My idea is, anybody can be captured but it requires two of the opposing players to capture and once you have captured somebody both must keep contact with the prisoner and are unable to do any other actions while restraining them. Once you have been captured you must co-operate with your captor (within reason and it also means no bfging yourself etc) be it hand over intel or radio team mates as an example. Once contact has been broken the captured is free to escape or what have you.
To capture when the player is still alive have a 10 second count, If the player is wounded have a 20 second count (10 for medic and 10 for the capture)
Maybe a little more complicated but it could prove for some interesting new ways to play the morning game!
