So good today from a marshals point of view, the games seemed to run well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, inspite of the flies!

So tell us how you feel, and any epic war stories. Or reasoning for running up to a bunker shouting "BANG BANG" at a marshal then shooting me in the gentleman sausage, epic Dave im looking at you. as was most people haha!

Alright day, Enjoyed most scenarios but some were a little choppy, the game at the end was a dick about when we could have done a quick end game scenario.

The morning brief was pretty poor, left a lot of the new people unsure what to do (E.G. Not calling hit, not standing up) And a few times none hit taking occoured, but that was mostly when people were being mediced using people as shields.

Overall a pretty nice day, had some fun, surrendered will. . .

i used 3 pea grenades, so technically i had a fecking awesome day! :P

but yeh the brief was a little sketchy, doesn't really bother us regulars because it gets us in the game faster but at the same time it showed when there was quite a few people confused as to certain rules..... such as the guy attempting to apply to bang rule to 2 of us wildcards only to be informed by a pair of 0.25's that we dont play that at F&O :P (that was definitley covered in the brief tho, obviousley just wasnt listening)

overall id say the day was pretty average and the morning scenario was abit long for some of the more unmotivated plays... and it showed.

not enough use of ridge base and the outpost, DEFINITLEY not enough use of the dam... as there never is :/ dont know why because the dam is awesome !!!

Cheers

the kennel club have been running a campaign on it this summer!

dont cook your dog!

EDIT: im gunna post this somewhere else on the forum too!!

It was a good day I finally got to buy my first gun which made the day for me (not two tone). The last game confused me as I had no idea what I was doing and all I did was end up running away from about 10 guys chargeing me down and screaming not sure how far I ran but I was tired haha But overall I enjoyed the day :)

Today for me was distinctly average, had better days, had worse...

Level of play wasn't too bad, but I just felt there was a lot of sitting around being done at some times. Not really any issues experienced from the players, except being threatened near the end of the day for putting a quick burst into someone's back from about 50 metres away (a 4 round burst isn't over killing imo, even confirmed it with the marshalls) so yeah, p*ssed me off a bit but hey ho... I'll put it down to heat and flies pissing everyone off :)

had a great day - aeg's broke again, quick removeal/bypass of the fuse and im branded as a barbarian by jamie \o/, leaving me with the 'mp9 sniper' (scope pistol) ^_^ haulling bb's a stupid long distance as a fair few found out :P.

there was a case of overkill at one point and a case long intended overkill which i recieved at the bottom of hamburger 'thank you all for the extreme lack of sight and hearing'.

ohh no, not the midgies, their in my eyes, ahhhhhh,

(must bring super bugspray next time)

as always great fun day had by all. weather having moodswings as usual.

yup 4 round at that range is no biggy. hell I would have to fire 4 in the hope that even one is on target at that range.

Well today:

1: the end game virus scenario was good and i can see it being used again IF there is not enough time to run a single vs aeg game. Damn that thing was fast paced and crazy.

2: I also came across alot of people who were not aware of the current objective/scenario. Whihc shouldnt have been a problem as most were just attack base..defend base...attack base...defend base. No extra objectives or conditions.

3: at least one incident of using a dead person as a shield while medicing

Bolton in general

1: at a future build day would it be feasable to actually build a basic bridge across the stream at the middle or upper point?

It would A: stop slow progress though that area that bogs down play(no pun intended) and would open up transit across both sides of the site . It would also be an objective in itself.

Blow the bridge (prevents other team from using it if your successfull)

Hold the bridge

etc etc

Its just currently bolton feels like two mini sites with a meat grinder in the middle.

Hats off to Eddie for keeping my shiney new CM16 raider to oneside till jamie processed my Ukara paperwork(again thanks for sorting that out superquick) :)

Its running like a dream, very happy camper here and I am sure martin and eddie will tempt me to buy otherstuff the cunning devils, lol.

if you dont find the main briefing (safety/game/rools) or even the scenario briefing easy to follow or hear, or you think others may struggle, feel free to shout at the marshal doing it to speak up or to recap.

though i do agree Ric was very quiet during it but us marshals at the back could hear him, so it shouldnt of been a problem, if people pay attention. for example staying at your car then wandering down late confused, is your/their own problem (of course im not pointing fingers that just a general waging finger)

and there was alot of of that today, i gave a shout out 3 times and people still ignored me, missed the briefing and had no idea what to do when they walked in game, which leads to more people not knowing which leads to a right "pirate sea shanty", which in turns ruins it for everyone else.

though if it could of been clearer in the first place then the blame is on us.

and yes the morning game could of (should of been imo(( everyone needed to get bug juice i think)) split up to make better use of the time.

as for the last game i think that was better than the usual single vs autos which always ends in another "sea shanty", though maybe people needed to get more into it... argh a zumbey with a gun run and hides before we dies! etc, it possibly would of been better (and if people attended the brief!)

as usual we do appreciate all feed back.

(and i promise i wont say though in the next 6 posts i make)

I agree..too much faffing, talkiing during brief, turning up to brief late..

Think it may be time to return to the...late for brief=miss that particular scenario or have to wait 10 mins for a rebrief before your allowed back on the field.

It wasnt that I wasnt aware of the brief but having talkers and people dry firing during it can make you miss a bit. Luckily most people filled each other in, but a few strays were wondering about.

regards the infected, it may last longer and prevent too much running if the countdown was from 20 maybe.

Hi guys,

Today was my 1st time here and doing any airsoft related thing whatsoever but I just wanted to say I had an awesome time and will definitely be coming again soon.

Not sure if it's ok to ask this here but I've just noticed I was meant to print out and get my UKARA form stamped today, is it ok to get that done for todays session next time I come or will I need to do the 2 more sessions?

Comments regarding todays games... morning session was brilliant and really enjoyed it. 2nd was OK but seemed to be a lot of sitting/standing around but I was perhaps doing it wrong and not getting invovled enough. Final game... I honestly had no idea what was going on in the final game.

Was Ok. As Pricey said had better and had worse.

The virus game was a bit ' pony' as Will put it. As an infected got shot by Quinn and after counting down he was still there, couldnt bring myself to shoot him in the back from 2ft.

Pistol aeg games seem to work a lot better. Think you should put more onus on the attckers in the Khe Sahn games , maybe with a time limit for each base. We had guys standing round for half an hour between games,. Dont mind hanging around fro 5-10 minutes but they were getting pretty pissed off after 20. If the attackers are looking like they arent going to do anything ,just call it and move back to the next base. Not really fair to people who have paid to be hanging around because the other team are taking their sweet time.

And did common sense have a day off , lost count of how many people i had to tell to put their eye pro back on. You will 'not be fine' If i take your eye out while your being a dick, I would not be happy.

My dog had food water , the windows were down and I went and checked on her every 30 mins or so. If I had left her at home she would have been in the porch all day. In pretty much the same situation but without being taken out for a walk. Without that link you posted up I would have never known about that . I thougth she was panting because she was enjoying herself  Cant have been to concerned or you would have found me during the day to put your point across. And seriously could your post have been any more condescending?

Maybe when giving the hire gun brief, you could run over the game rules with them as well. So then if they mis hear or dont hear at all during the main briefing they still have an idea of whats supposed to be going on. Tbh when you have heard the brief over 200 times its quite easy to get distracted and start having a chat with the guy next to u who has also heard it 200 times.

Had a good day, think the midges where out in force again, but seemed to have gone by the afternoon, personally had a great day, shattered by the end. being on the red team. the time limit on getting the bases does help to push the attacking team forward and honestly thought this was in effect anyway, the sudden change to 5 min bleed out seemed abit much. maybe instead of hearing the safety brief over and over again, especially for regulars, can F&O not have the sign in state you have read and understood the safety rules. Most issues with safety are with newbies any way. who probably have less kit to sort out, get them to one side and safety brief them if needed.

Sorry matey it obviously came across in completely the wrong way ^_^ . i only brought it up as there are alot of people who think the window down abit is enough for the dog to stay cool (which it isnt as the video shows). Its just coming from somebody who owns 2 dogs and loves them to bits so i know how gutted you would be if something were to happen to yours.

cheers

Really enjoyed the morning game, couldn't believe how quick the morning went. Had a good day despite the bugs, The gameplay was of a good standard all round. No issues to speak of. Like the idea of giving the new guys a specific safety brief. Can always gloss over them in the brief if anyone has questions. Will have to agree, the virus game was a little "pony" but was worth a try. Could be good with a little tweaking. Time limits would be a good idea or after a certain amount of time the defenders get reinforcements and can push back and reverse the game. All in all a good day as always.

often takes at least a few days for any to surface sometimes a week. I think I saw a marshall taking a few snaps as I was running from tree to tree near nigel

Well this was my second time on this site and I had a blast to be honest seeing as i was on the yellow team who seemed to be kicking ass for much of the day.

Had an epic firefight in one of the bunkers with me and my mate holding off about 6 or 7 reds with a few grenades and a shed load of mags.

I think the separate safety brief for newbies would be a great idea as there was a fair bit of chat going on during it but if you`ve been through it 50 times previously i can see why peoples concentration would wander. On the plus side of doing it that way is if the newbies want to chat through their safety brief then maybe they shouldnt be playing as there were a few taking masks off during play (probably to do with with the bugs but hey)!

I dont know the site well enough yet to comment on it but i do agree that a bridge over the stream would be awesome and open the play around the bunker on the opposite side.

Anyway it seems like i`ve converted one of my mates from crappy paintball and my other mate thought it was the best thing since sliced bread so hey im happy.

Just one thing for the shop side of things - buy lots more smoke grenades as they have run out both times i`ve been and they are real handy when you are bogged down.

See you in a few.

First time on Saturday and have to say it was amazing!! The morning was a bit tedious as i was on the red team defending, didnt seem to be much organisation or plan but was generally ok. Really enjoyed the afternoon (my legs didn't however), assault on the hill was very good, wish i had bought some grenades though as we did get bogged down for a while.

Need to apologise to the guy i had a go at for shooting me in the face at close range, heat of the moment stuff and was knackered.

Will deffo be going again, re the brief and games, as a newbie i listened to the brief and understood what we needed to do, i do think however that there could have been a little less time standing around and a bit more direction on what or where we were supposed to attack/defend, i spent most of my time following the more experienced player (much to their annoyance). Also the dry firing was getting irritating, especially when you are trying to listen to something.

All in all a good day, cheers to everyone involved for making it a good day :-)

Yep, personally saw this four times and apparently it happened a LOT more than that! That was no fault of the marshals though, it was made very clear - and even while Ric was going over it for the third time, explaining that he's seen people lose an eye - he was simply ignored.

The day for me was absolutly brill, got to try out my new AEG in the morning and in the afternoon me and this other fella set to hiding in the undergrowth/fallen trees waiting for the red team to walk right past us. Thier were many suprised faces as we emerged and took them out on their flank twice, however we did get caught trying it a third time.

There were people talking during the brief which i can understand if you've heard it a thousand and one times but maybe walk furthur to the back? Usually either jaime and bongo stand up high and really let their voices carry and give people talking a friendly bollocking, where as this time the guy doing it was down on our level and it was harder to hear him at times.

Yeah i saw a number of people removing eye protection and even saw one guy lace a friendly hire 5ft away on full auto, the guy that got shot didn't seem too bothered but it was pretty obvious he was already dead and on the same side.

Hi,

Second time at this site (first being a little under a year ago) and I had a great day.

I thought the instructions were clear however two of my friends who were new didn’t listen (messing about with their face masks) so I had to recap for them post brief.

I would split the group for the brief so the marshal can give the new guys a little more attention and ensure they are taking it in. I would suggest that if you have been less than three times you have to have a more detailed brief.

May help if when briefing the new guys you show them a map of the site and pics of the bases so they know what they are looking for, some people need visual aids to pick up any new information. Would certainly enforce the idea that the game is structured around objectives and that it’s not just a free for all killing spree. Might also be a good idea to do the brief for beginners before they get their kit so they don’t get distracted. In my day job our team delivers IT training to adults (who usually don’t want to learn) and we use a variety of methods to ensure they take the key points in. Cut the techniques down enough and they could be applied to the safety briefs.

From a management point of view perhaps a rule would be sensible relating to safety briefing attendance. As someone suggested above, if you miss it you don’t start the game until you have been briefed (at the marshals convenience). Some will say its harsh but enforcing attendance at the briefing is going to be difficult if there isn’t a consequence for non attendance.

Due to our groups poor organizational skills we ended up hiring shottys as all the 'good' guns were already hired out. I really enjoyed the stealth aspect of the game and in the long game after lunch, linked up with BrakSpear to good effect. Using the shotty was much harder than the M4 I had last time round but when you got a kill it was very satisfying. I will definitely be attending again (soon hopefully).

I think you should make a base where the porno mags were found with an objective to remove the enemy intelligence (although god knows that I wouldn’t be picking them up!)

Last but not least a quick apology as it was one of my mates that kept lifting his mask up. I caught him doing it a couple of times and told him to pull it back down. He has problems remembering pretty much anything anyone tells him and generally we just shrug it off as we know his condition. He does struggle to take information in which doesn’t usually matter. I think by the end of the day (having been shot a few times) it sunk in that actually it wouldn’t just hurt if it hit him in the eye, but could do lasting damage. So sorry about that, I specifically talked to him about it before hand and thought that would have been enough.

Part of the problem is that in paintballing the games are short so his concentration spans ok, with airsofting where it lasts longer he starts to struggle.

Anyway end of essay :D look forward to seeing the pics J
